Service Awards
- Haydn Myer Award
Awarded in honor of Gen. Haydn Myer. This award is presented at the discretion of the Trustees for distinguished service to the Civil War Philatelic Society during the previous twelve months. This award may not be presented to a member that is currently holding office as a Trustee. Until the 2005 By-Law change, Generals were also restricted from receiving this award. - August Dietz Award
Awarded in honor of August Dietz. The award is presented at the discretion of the Trustees for distinguished research and writing in the field of Civil War philately. From 1962 through 1978 the award was presented for articles printed in the Confederate Philatelist. After 1978 the criteria were modified to include any article or publication in the field of Confederate Philately. - The Civil War Philatelist Writers Award
This award is presented at the discretion of the Trustees to the author of the best article appearing in the Civil War Philatelist since the last annual meeting of the Civil War Philatelic Society. - Special Trustees’ Award for Sustained and Superior Service
Awarded for superior service to the Society over a period greater than one year. - Special Trustees’ Award for Superior Service
Awarded for superior service to the Society in the past year. - Bruce W. Ball Exemplary Service Award (Retired)
This award was given for exemplary service to the Society.
Exhibit Awards
- Civil War Philatelic Society Trophy
Established in 1945. Awarded for the best and most comprehensive exhibit of Civil War stamps, covers or both. Until 1992, this award could only be won once by a Society member. Beginning in 1993, a Society member is eligible to win the award once every five years. - President’s Trophy
Established in 1962. Awarded by the Trustees for the best exhibit of Civil War stamps, covers, or both to a Society member that has not previously won a Society exhibit award. - Civil War Philatelic Society Trustees’ Research Trophy
Established in 1983 as the Trustees’ Trophy, awarded for the best one frame exhibit. Renamed the Confederate Stamp Alliance Trustee’s Research Trophy in 2010, and subsequently renamed Civil War Philatelic Society Trustee’s Research Trophy in 2020. Awarded for the best exhibit of any number of frames, which illustrates new knowledge or understanding of Civil War stamps, covers or postal history, or an extension to existing knowledge. - John H. Reagan, Confederate Postmaster General Award
Established in 1979 as the David Kohn Memorial Award. Renamed the John H. Reagan Award in 1994 in memory of David Kohn, Harry McDowell and J. V. Nielsen, Jr. Awarded for the best exhibit of Confederate postmasters’ provisionals. - The Generals Award
Established in 1982 as the A. Earl Weatherly Memorial Award. Renamed the Generals Award in 2003. Awarded at the discretion of the judges. - Jack E. Molesworth Award
Established in 1954 this is awarded for the best exhibit of off-cover Confederate stamps. The exhibit need not consist exclusively of stamps. - Robert A. Siegel Memorial Award
Established in 1959 as the Robert A. Siegel Award. Renamed the Robert A. Siegel Memorial Award in 1994. Awarded at the discretion of the Judges. - William G. Bogg Memorial Award
Established in 1963 this is awarded for the best exhibit depicting the evolution of Confederate postal history. - Conrad L. Bush Award
Established in 2010. Awarded for the Best One-Frame Exhibit of CSA material. - John W. Kaufmann Memorial Award
Established in 1968 as the Van Dyk MacBride award. Renamed the John W. Kaufmann Memorial Award in 1989. Awarded for the best exhibit of Civil War patriotic covers.
