The Museum of Philately has awarded CWPS member Daniel Ryterband with the Rowland Hill Medal for his exhibit, A Country Divided: Effects of the American Civil War on the Mails.
The medal was presented during the Royal Philatelic Society’s dinner held in Boston in conjunction with the Boston 2026 World Stamp Show. Presented biennially, the Rowland Hill Medal recognizes the exhibit published on the Museum of Philately platform since the previous award, that has earned the greatest support from current exhibitors.
The following is an extract from the award announcement by the Museum:
“Postal history collections can be admired for their beauty, rarity, and historical significance. The finest tell important geographical, social, economic, political, and military stories. Rarely does one exhibit encompass so many of these elements.
Daniel Ryterband’s A Country Divided: Effects of the American Civil War on the Mails does exactly that, exploring the impact of the American Civil War on postal communications during one of the most critical periods in United States history”.
This exhibit has been loaded on the Museum of Philately website and can also found in the Postal History section of the CWPS Collections and Exhibits.
